Umar Ahmad El-Kanawy was born on 1st September 1994 in Kaduna State, Nigeria. He attended the International Institute of Journalism from 2016 to 2018, where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Journalism.
Umar started his career with Freedom Radio Kaduna and later transferred to the headquarters of Freedom Radio Kano. In 2022, he joined Premier Radio Kano.
He is happily married with one wife and one daughter.
